Journey To Adulthood Pilgrimages

Sacred Places Travel designs and leads sacred travel for youth groups of all sizes. We would be happy to work with you at any level you desire in connection with a pilgrimage or mission trip by your Journey to Adulthood or other youth or church group.

Our journeys are designed with Christian spirituality as the focus, and our trips are carefully tailored to fit the needs of the Episcopal Church's Journey to Adulthood program.

Our pilgrimages are affordable, spirit-filled adventures that offer young men and women the opportunity to grow closer to God in a supportive and fun environment.  Over the years, we have become experts at customizing itineraries and themes to fit group needs and budgets—allowing for rich and meaningful pilgrimages.

 Established pilgrimages are available to the following sacred lands:

• Appalachian Journey to southwestern North Carolina in and around Cashiers, NC

• Amish Pilgrimage to Lancaster County, PA

• California Missions Pilgrimage in and around Santa Barbara, CA

• Episcopal Mission to Navajoland in AZ and UT

• Florida Pilgrimage on the Florida Panhandle

• Lakota Sioux Pilgrimage to the Black Hills and Pine Ridge Reservation in SD and WY

• Mississippi River Pilgrimage in and around New Orleans, LA

• Montana Pilgrimage to southeastern MT including Yellowstone National Park in WY

• Navajo and Hopi Pilgrimage to AZ and NM

The way that we work is to customize our pilgrimages to fit your group.  If your group decides on one of our pilgrimages, we co-create with you an itinerary that fits your group’s interests, time and budget.  Or, we can design a new pilgrimage for your group to the location of your choice for a set fee. We make all the arrangements for accommodations and activities, but not for travel (plane, van).  All costs are paid directly by the church to the vendor.

When you choose a Sacred Places Travel pilgrimage, we will include information you need to take the pilgrimage including:

• Itinerary including all major activities for each day

• Backstory setting out the spiritual aspects of each place and activity.  This material shows how each place fits into the pilgrimage and can be used in pieces to suggest to pilgrims how to find God at a particular spot.

• Leader Information Sheets with all activities in the itinerary order with distances, contact people and their phone numbers, and something important about each place

• Driving directions to each site to easily find your way

• Cost List of the cost/pilgrim of each activity and Budget Worksheet

• Packing List to start with a spiritual perspective

If you desire, we will prepare morning prayers and evening reflections based on the anticipated experiences of each day, for an additional fee.  In addition, if you choose and our schedule allows it, we will lead the pilgrimage for an additional fee. In that case, we will participate in the entire journey, including leading morning prayers, Christian yoga, and evening reflections.
